Schumetta McLendon is an architectural designer, urban planner and strategic advisor working across the built environment, economic development and international partnerships.

As Founder and Principal of SCHUMETTA, she brings nearly two decades of experience across architecture, planning and development. Her work has included luxury residential development, post-disaster rebuilding, project management and permitting, public-sector planning, development review and government coordination.

Schumetta’s architectural experience includes high-end residential projects in Southern California, where she worked with architects, builders, consultants, property owners and development teams on projects from design and permitting through construction. Following the Woolsey Fire, she was involved in rebuilding efforts in Malibu and has continued to work on post-disaster residential reconstruction.

Her public-sector experience includes serving as an Urban Planner with Indian River County, Florida, where she reviewed and evaluated commercial, residential and mixed-use development applications for compliance with the County’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations, with responsibility for approving or denying applications within her assigned authority.

Prior to her career in architecture, Schumetta worked in film and television at The Walt Disney Company, where she held roles in Casting, Feature Animation and Corporate Alliances. Her experience within a global creative organization provided an early foundation in relationship-building, collaboration and strategic partnerships that continues to inform her multidisciplinary work.

Today, Schumetta brings this multidisciplinary experience to strategic advisory and international economic development. She serves on the Board of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce Florida Chapter, with an emphasis on strengthening U.S.–European economic relationships and connecting companies, institutions and investment networks with opportunities in U.S. markets.

Her professional leadership has also included roles with AIA Los Angeles Women in Architecture and the Association for Women in Architecture + Design.

Across each of these areas, Schumetta brings together an understanding of design, development, government and global partnerships - connecting people, places and opportunities across disciplines and markets.

Schumetta is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, whose commitment to International Awareness and Involvement reflects her own interest in global engagement and cross-cultural connection. An avid international football fan, she follows the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League and has a longstanding interest in the cultures, cities and communities surrounding the global game.
